While Ultron was created in 1968, 2013 saw the release of Age of Ultron, a 10-issue series in which Ultron actually succeeded in taking over the world. Likewise, even if The Kang Dynasty cannot fully adapt comic book arcs like Kang Dynasty, it should aim at being a high-stakes story with real consequences to the heroes and to the Marvel universe instead of being just a one-off, self-contained Avengers mission that doesn’t live up to its name. Still, Age of Ultron had the potential to be much bigger than it actually was even if could not properly adapt Ultron’s best comic book stories. Age of Ultron was not the first nor the last time Marvel Studios loosely adapted a Marvel comic while reusing the name of it. Avengers: Age of Ultron suggested a redefining event for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one that would involve several characters and see the Avengers suffer major losses – which did not happen. However, the last time an Avengers movie promised something similar, the result was disappointing.
